Located fifteen kilometers from Sapa town proper is the home of the Hmong tribe. Most people from the nearby villages trudge along unfriendly winding roads daily to sell scarves, earrings, and other locally-made souvenirs.
Su belongs to the Hmong tribe. She invited us to have lunch with her in-laws. They have adopted two children from the same tribe despite earning meager wages. Her husband works as a cook in a small restaurant while she works as a part-time tour guide and a hotel receptionist.
